How to find your ideal home in a booming city?
As the clouds begin to part from another grey winter in the Pacific Northwest you begin to look at your options for your home. This inevitably fills the brain with more information than one may want. So how do we navigate the waters of supply and demand? Let's discuss.
Lists are great ways to stay on track. Write down the living community amenities that are important to you. Have a pet? Make sure they accept pets. Trying to roll your gym membership into your rent? Make sure a gym is available on site. Making a list of your wants vs needs will allow you to narrow our filters for your search parameters and hopefully ease the mind. Apartment hunting shouldn't be like trying to order food at Red Robin, let's decrease that menu size.
Check the list regularly
Don’t forget to check in and see how you’re doing. Just because you don’t find your ideal match immediately doesn't mean it won't come to market. Every day new supply and vacancies are posted to market. Checking everyday will help you stay up to date and not miss your dream community. Also, utilize a property manager. In a world of screen time, often times its nice to speak to a property manager who's sole job on a daily basis is to manage the properties you seek.
Keep an Open Mind
Apartment hunting can be a time constraining event that lets you down time and time again. Don't let yourself fall in love with 1 single apartment as often times more than not if you love it someone else probably does as well. Keep that in mind when you're falling in love with a community and utilize your property manager, they will almost always have more apartments available!
